Moumita Das

Economist

Moumita Das is working as an Economist with the Economics and Statistics Unit (ESU) in Delhi.

Prior to joining CEGIS, she completed her PhD in economics at the University of California in Santa Cruz, focusing on development economics. Her main research interests lie in spatial labour mobility, and how it is affected by physical, infrastructural and environmental factors. She is particularly interested in climatic factors influencing decision-making as well as environmental impacts of economic policies. Methodologically, she has used structural modeling and quasi-experimental empirical approaches.

Moumita has held short-term positions with the World Bank Group, the Asian Development Bank and a climate-tech start-up. Before moving abroad for her higher studies, she worked in New Delhi as a researcher with the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy. She is originally from Kolkata.
